Frequently Asked
What is a point cloud, and who uses it?
A point cloud is millions of LiDAR-measured points that recreate physical space in 3D. It is used by designers, architects, builders, fabricators, developers, and investigators who need accurate spatial data for planning or modelling.
What is the difference between point cloud capture and point-to-point measurement?
Point cloud capture uses Trimble LiDAR to record a complete 3D dataset of the environment. Point-to-point measurement records single vectors between two points. Point clouds are best for complexity and full documentation, while point-to-point is suitable for simpler requirements.
What is an As-Is BIM model?
An As-Is BIM model is a digital representation of real-world conditions. Our models are produced from Trimble LiDAR point clouds and delivered in Revit 2023-25, Sketchup & ArchiCAD, with support for additional formats as required.
Are LiDAR scans suitable for certification or approvals?
No. LiDAR scans and As-Is BIM outputs are for planning and modelling only. They are not certified for council submissions or construction documentation.
What file formats do you provide?
We supply E57 point clouds, Revit models, DWG extractions, and PDFs or images as needed.
Can I use the point cloud myself?
Yes. Your point cloud is fully compatible with Revit, Archicad, SketchUp, and IFC platforms.
